The Picture

Fire Girl Ghost

The Explanation

This is a picture of a ghost in a burning building!

On November 19, 1995, Wem Town Hall (1905) in Shropshire, England burned to the ground. Many spectators gathered to watch the old building as it was being consumed by the flames. This ghost picture was one of several taken with a 200mm lens by one Mr. Tony O'Rahilly a local resident and witness to the fire. No-one remembered seeing anyone there at the time, including the fire-fighters!

O'Rahilly handed the picture to the Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena and it was analysed by a Dr. Vernon Harrison of the Royal Photographic Society. Harrison stated: "The negative is a straightforward piece of black-and-white work and shows no sign of having been tampered with,"

In 1677 the town of Wem in Shropshire had according to historical documents, been almost completely destroyed by fire thought to have been started accidentally by a candle being used by one Jane Churm - that ignited a thatched roof.

There is no explanation for this ghost picture
